Shipping Policy

All orders our customers place with Blue Elephant Gems are processed through National Gem and Jewellery Authority  (NGJA) of Sri Lanka which is the legal procedure permitted in exporting gemstones from Sri Lanka.

Gemstones are first submitted to the National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA) with customs declaration (CUSDEC). Thereafter, the Gems are valued by NGJA Valuer and also examined by the customs department and the sealed shipments will be transferred to the Air Cargo terminal for shipment. Orders are shipped from Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Orders will be processed and will be handed over for shipping with insurance within 03 working days after your payment is received, Monday to Friday excluding SL public holidays.

Normally, products will be handed over for shipping within 48 hours. These times may differ due to unforeseen circumstances such as, force majeure, natural disasters, acts of God, pandemic situations, civil unrests etc. However, such delays in shipping will be duly notified to you.

Tracking number will be notified to you via email and/or WhatsApp once the order is handed over for shipping. Further, there may be delays in tracking websites due to delays in the destination country.

Please be aware of the existing rules and regulations in relation to import of gemstones in your country as they may differ from country to Country and from the importation process of other goods. We are not liable and/or responsible for Clearance charges, taxes or any other charges and or fees which may be charged and/or imposed in the destination country.



We offer free shipping to all countries by EMS.  Packages will be shipped from Colombo (Sri Lanka) and the normal delivery time period is 7 – 14 days with tracking.

After the payment is received, your order will be shipped from Colombo, Sri Lanka within three working days. Tracking details and scan of postal receipt will be sent soon after shipment.


In addition to our FREE shipping option by EMS to cater your urgent requirements, we also support shipping option by globally reputed Fedex.

Fedex packages are generally delivered to the customer within 3 days after the shipment from Sri Lanka, provided there are no delaying issues at the destination locations. Fedex service is more costly than the EMS service and the customer will be charged for shipping when using the Fedex service. Tracking is available.

After the payment is received, your order will be shipped from Colombo, Sri Lanka within three working days. Tracking details and scan of postal receipt will be sent soon after shipment; customers are liable for Import taxes and other charges if any at the destination.

Standard Shipping

Standard shipping service takes a longer period and it generally takes 7 to 14 days. However, standard shipping may sometimes take even up to 30 days or more. Therefore, we do not use the same when EMS is available.

  • Please not that we do not take any responsibility for the delays which occur after the goods are handed over for delivery. However, we are always ready and willing to assist you in any question you may have.
  • Purchase any loose gemstone and we will ship it to your doorstep. All shipments are fully insured to all shipping destinations, regardless of the order amount. All items are securely packaged while in transit to your home or office.
  • Orders above (USD): $1,000 may be shipped via FedEx upon request, fully insured with door to door service. There will be a reduced shipping charge of (USD): $100 for shipping and handling via FedEx for orders over 1000 USD.
  • Updating tracking information is the responsibility of postal authorities. 
    We do not take responsibility for Postal delays. 

Import Duty and Taxes at destination

Customers are liable for Import taxes if any at the destination. Parcels may be held up at Customs Offices at destination awaiting clearance.

Additional Information

International customers will be responsible for any duties, VAT, taxes or surcharges levied or charged by their country, so please check with local authorities prior to placing your order to confirm taxes and duties.

In some countries except for USA, properly declared shipments are subject to custom charges and taxes. Please keep in mind that we have no control over extra charges occurring in your country. The buyer is responsible for any customs, tax and duties in their country. Returns because of such charges cannot be accepted.

Damaged packages

In case you receive a damaged/broken package, DO NOT ACCEPT the same and immediately report the same to the delivery agent/courier. Further, inform the delivery person and take photographs of the damaged package and inform the delivery personnel to update the system as a damaged package. Please inform us with regard to any damaged package within 24 hours via email.

Payment methods

The payment methods we use to receive payments are Western Union Money Transfer, Money Gram, Wire Transfer, Ria and Direct Bank Transfers.
Please note that we do not use PayPal as a payment method as it is not legally permitted by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
